The Principal is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and preferably experienced PRIMARY MUSIC TEACHER, for the following position:



  • CLASSROOM MUSIC & CHOIR TEACHER (Maternity Leave cover)
  • FTE 0.6 (3 days each week)
  • COMMENCING TERM 2 2018 (for 12 months)

An overview of the position is provided below. Interested applicants should please note that the current program structure necessitates a high level of teacher engagement (including physical) during lessons and across the broader program. 

  • Responsiblity for teaching classroom music from Kindergarten to year 6

  • Lead choir of 80+ students from year 2-6

  • Classroom music activities based on the Orff approach and Kodaly methodology

  • Lessons focused on singing, movement, body percussion, speech rhymes/poems, folk dancing and playing a range of percussion instruments.

  • Ukulele program introduced in Year 1

  • Recorder Introduction and instruction from Year 3+

  • Variety of instructional strategies and activities catering for diversity within each class

  • Arrange and choreograph choir and class items for concerts/assemblies/events throughout the year

  • Co-ordinate music, sound and projector for weekly assemblies including praise and worship and playing the national anthem

  • Assist classroom teachers with items for their assemblies/concerts

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers in order to integrate their themes/topics into the Arts curriculum

  • Extra curricular classes – movement exploration, drum circle

  • Passion for quality music education in the primary years

  • Ability to inspire interest, curiosity and excitement in students

  • Positive, engaging, enthusiastic and consistent approach to teaching
